A fire breaks out in an apartment complex under construction in Tabuan Dayak
KUCHING (November 21): A fire broke out this morning at an apartment complex under construction in Tabuan Dayak.
Thick smoke billowed from the top floor of the building, alarming residents.
A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service’s operations center said a report of the incident was received at 10:33 a.m.
Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
“The fire started in a pump room on the 12th floor of the apartment complex, an estimated size of 40 square feet by 40 square feet, which was 100% destroyed.
“Materials found in the room were paint and wooden pallets,” the spokesperson said in a statement this afternoon.
The spokesperson said firefighters had to climb the stairs of the apartment to reach the room and put out the fire using 12 rolls of hose, a separating cylinder head and two nozzles, with water from their water cistern and mechanical pumps.
At 11.15 a.m. the situation was under control and the operation ended at 12.55 p.m.
