At least five families have been displaced after a townhouse in Silver Spring, Maryland, caught fire Friday night, spreading rapid flames to surrounding homes.

The fire started at the back of the townhouse around 8 p.m.

Nearly 90 firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported from the fire.

At least five families have been displaced after a townhouse in Silver Spring, Maryland, caught fire Friday night, spreading rapid flames to surrounding homes.

Montgomery County Fire & EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said the fire occurred in the back of a townhouse on Landing Way near Norbeck Road near Maryland Route 200 around 8 p.m. .

The fire quickly spread to neighboring units and caused extensive heat damage to nearby townhouses.

Nearly 90 firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.

Piringer said firefighters also helped some people out of their homes, but no injuries or rescues were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
