Corner apartment in converted factory full of celebrities for $ 16.5 million
Organic and industrial design come together in a Manhattan apartment with interiors by famed designer Douglas Durkin that hit the market Wednesday for $ 16.5 million.
The nearly 4,000 square foot residence sits on the northwest corner of the Tribeca 443 Greenwich condo, giving it an “enviable” light and views of treetops and cobbled streets, according to Juliette Janssens of the brokerage firm Sotheby’s International Realty East Side Manhattan. She shares the list with Allison Koffman, also of Sotheby’s.
“All the rooms are exterior, so you have these beautiful views of Tribeca Street,” Ms. Janssens said.
Stuart Peterson, managing partner and founder of San Francisco-based venture capital firm Artis Ventures, and his wife, Gina, purchased the residence through a limited liability company in January 2018 for 13.8 million dollars, according to PropertyShark records.
They enlisted Mr. Durkin, an AD 100-rated designer, to “elevate” the interiors, Ms. Janssens noted.
“Douglas Durkin created this feeling of volume and light for this apartment,” she said. “He used beautiful textures and hues and layered them. You have as a backdrop these beautiful blonde parquet floors and these organic and industrial surfaces.
There are also original steel and wood beams, adding to the industrial vibe, she added.
443 Greenwich was originally a factory, after all. The iconic brick building was a bookbinding in the 19th century and was converted into condos in 2014. A number of celebrities have bought homes there, including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Rebel Wilson and Harry Styles, a phenomenon that l The sales team at the time attributed to the low-key and “paparazzi-proof” nature of the building’s design.
The open floor plan of this particular unit includes a living room with arched windows, a kitchen with an island with a Calacatta marble countertop, Miele appliances and an adjacent dining area with a built-in bench and a more formal dining area, according to SEO. There is also a private key lift.
There are four bedrooms and the master suite has a sitting area, two custom walk-in closets, and an en-suite bathroom with heated floors, a tub, and a separate shower, according to the listing. Automated solar and blackout shades have been added, and there is recessed lighting designed to properly illuminate the art.
“This apartment is really moving in condition, in perfect condition and done in such a sophisticated way,” noted Ms. Janssens. “Buying this apartment is buying an instant lifestyle.
