Fire causes extensive damage to Forest Hill townhouse

A fire caused extensive damage to a townhouse in Forest Hill on Friday. Oliver Alkire, the state’s deputy fire marshal, told 11 News that firefighters were called around 7:30 a.m. to a fire in the 300 block of Betty Court. Two people and a dog inside the house were able to evacuate safely. The fire appears to have started on the aft deck and quickly spread to the roof and attic, and the cause remains under investigation. Damage is expected to be around $350,000. There was extensive water damage that damaged the ceiling of a nearby home, Alkire said.
