Long Island crash: Car slams into condo building in Farmingdale, Nassau County

FARMINGDALE, Nassau County (WABC) — A car slammed into the side of a condominium building in Farmingdale overnight.

The driver lost control of Stratford Green around 2.45am on Thursday.

The vehicle went through a fence, hit the front of a house and ended up on its side.

Video from the scene showed extensive damage, with the vehicle embedded in a kitchen area.

The driver survived the crash, fled the scene on foot, but was caught nearby by a neighbour.

He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and placed under arrest.

The residents of the condominium were at home at the time of the accident, but were not injured.

Eyewitness News learns that the accident knocked the house off its foundation. A number of residents have been displaced.

Eyewitness News was live on air and online as crews pulled the wrecked vehicle from the home just after 5.30am.

The accident is still under investigation.
